2015 | Stephen Crane | “And You Love Me” is a mezzo-soprano/baritone duet commissioned by Tacsha Anderson and Scott Ballantine. The text by Stephen Crane presents a stark dialogue between a fearful lover — justifying their abuse and neglect — and the other, unable to accept the excuses (“If love loves, there is no world…save thought of love”). Seamless changes to tempo, key, and time signature make this duet dramatic, difficult, and surprising. To be premiered in April, 2015 in Boston.
